The group classes are small, there is plenty of room for personal attention so that the exercises can be adapted to everyone's level.
During the Pilates group classes on the mat, I follow the classical philosophy of Joseph Pilates combined with the latest developments of the contemporary Polestar pilates method, which incorporates biomechanics and modern understanding of the body to make movements safer and more functional. My classes are designed to move the body intelligently through a full range of movement, in all directions. I lead you through a fluid, dynamic, controlled work, a continuous flow.
If you are in reasonable health, have no serious injuries and would like to work on your body, Pilates group classes are for you!
A Pilates Trio Session is a circuit training format, where you are introduced to the various pilates apparatuses: Reformer, Tower, Wunda Chair and the Mat Work.
You train with your trio partners, who sign up for the class independently. Therefore, you do not need to bring trio partners. You will receive guidance through a thoughtfully programmed class. During the class, the instructor will take the time to teach the exercises on each piece of equipment thoughtfully, and you will rotate through the equipment in a circuit set up about 2-3 times per class. A certified instructor is always present to make sure you are performing the exercises safely – with appropriate modifications if needed -, to provide corrections and oversee proper use of the equipment.
When you experience stress, often repeat the same movements or assume the same postures, sore spots, tension and stiffness can develop in your body. The fascia – a thin layer of connective tissue that surrounds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fibre and muscle – contracts around the muscles. It has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as the skin. It can restrict mobility and create painful knots, which in turn can lead to incorrect movement patterns and ultimately injuries. Stretching classes help to relieve unnecessary muscle tension and/or improve posture. Foamrolling is a form of connective tissue release to reduce stiffness, improve range of motion, regulate the nervous system and improve blood flow in your body, keeping it supple, pain free and healthy. During foam rolling, you use your own body weight as a load to massage yourself.
